GHALLANAI: Tribal elders during a joint Grand Jirga have urged the authorities to resolve the issues temporary displaced persons including unblocking the blocked Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) of the Mohmand tribesmen and compensation for the affected families.
Participants at a joint Grand Jirga held here on Friday discussed modalities for bringing back the temporarily displaced people who had evacuated their respective villages due to the militancy and military operations.
The grand jirga held at Ghallanai Jirga Hall was largely attended by tribal elders of Musakhel and Esakhel tribes of Baizai Sub-Division, besides Political Agent Mohmand Agency, Mehmood Aslam Wazir, Member National Assembly Bilal Rehman and Assistant Political Agent Pir Abdullah Shah. The tribal elders including Baghi Jan, Malik Sadar Khan, Malik Manjawar Khogakhel and Malik Hazratullah apprised the PA Mohmand Agency and MNA of the problems being faced by the tribesmen.
The tribal elders lamented that due to the lack of facilities and other problems tribespeople who had shifted to other parts of the country felt reluctant to return to their hometowns and take part in development of the area.
MNA Bilal Rehman said that a number of development projects were underway in the tribal agency particularly affected areas of Baizai Sub-Division. He asked the political administration to make sure no innocent person was implicated in false cases of terrorism.
Speaking on the occasion, PA Mohmand Agency Mehmood Aslam Wazir asked the residents of the bordering villages to return to their hometowns and take part in reconstruction of their houses and Hujras (male guest houses).
He added that basic facilities including health and education would soon be provided to the people of the affected areas. He said that work on construction of the road to the bordering villages of Baizai Sub-Division would soon be started.
He also appealed to the tribal elders to persuade the internally displaced persons to return to their hometowns.
