WAH CANTT: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would hold by-elections in PP-7, Taxila-Chakri Rawalpindi-IV on September 26, after the demise of PTI MPA Mohammad Siddique Khan. The constituency comprises 167,574 registered voters including 88,226 males and 79,348 females, while the total population of Taxila is 471,612. As many as 157 polling stations would be set up in the tehsil. The three main candidates to contest are PTI’s Ammar Sidique, Haji Umar Farooq of PML-N and Chaudhry Kamran Aslam of PPP. According to reports, the elections would be a real test for both the political parties to check their popularity among the citizens and it would be a yardstick for the both mainstream parties like referendum to check their popularity graph and it would also play a major role for the two parties to set their priorities for the next general elections.
