ISLAMABAD – Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has regretted India’s objection to sale of eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan by the United States.
Talking to the channel, he said that India was engaged in big arms deals with the United States and Russia – but making hue and cry over purchase of F-16 jets – which is unfortunate. The Adviser said that the United States has taken a very clear stance that the jets are being provided to Pakistan to combat terrorism.
To a question, Sartaj said that Pakistan’s relations with the United States have been significantly improving since 2012. To another question, he said that strategic balance in South Asia is pivotal for regional peace. Taking part in the program, Talat Masood said that India just wanted to pressurise Pakistan.
Air Marshal (r) Shahid Latif said it was not the first time that Indian government raised voices against the agreements signed by Pakistan in defence sector. Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi said Indian stance that the proposed sale of F-16 fighter jets will alter military balance in South Asia is totally baseless. Dr Khurram said India is following Gain theory in the region.
